Villanova, Pennsylvania
Villanova University’s picturesque 260-acre campus is located on Philadelphia’s Main Line, west of Philadelphia. Villanova Business School classes take place in Bartley Hall, an exceptional business learning and technology center that recently underwent a major renovation, including the addition of a 65,000 square-foot light-filled atrium. Named in honor of Fr. Joseph Bartley, the Hall now features high-tech classrooms, 130-seat amphitheater, print center, an applied finance lab / simulated trading room, dining hall, “Holy Grounds” coffee bar, and the Bartley Business Information Center. Originally constructed in 1956, Bartley Hall’s 77,000 square foot interior was renovated to improve its overall efficiency, energy performance, and accessibility. A façade upgrade aligned the building’s appearance with the existing campus structures. The new addition houses the kitchen and dining hall with four variable volume, chilled water, hot water air handling units. Phased construction allowed the majority of the work to occur during summer recesses, after the addition was completed.
This project won a 2003 International Illumination Design Award from the Philadelphia Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
