Chester, Pennsylvania
The restoration and upgrade of the historic 1903 train station is an integral part of the revitalization of the City of Chester. After a five-year renovation, the Chester Transportation Center is now accessible and comfortable to all passengers, with new elevators, entrance stairs, handrails, canopies and upgraded platforms; extensive carpentry and plaster rehabilitation; and thorough painting of old and new structures. The new Transportation Center houses a SEPTA police station, information center, ticket office, community room, and retail spaces. Located in the center of downtown, the train station is the heart of a city that is rapidly recapturing its vitality.
